Professor Dr. Reinard Tietz passed away on April 6, 2025 at the age of 96 in his hometown of Frankfurt. He was Professor of Economics at Goethe University where he held the chair of “VWL, insbesondere Verhaltensforschung” from 1974 until his retirement in 1993.
Reinhard Tietz was among the pioneers in experimental economic research, which has its European roots at Goethe University in Frankfurt (together with Heinz Sauermann and Reinhard Selten). He was interested and involved in the further development of his field until the very end. His last presentation at the FLEX Grüneburgseminar was in 2019 at the age of 91. We will always remember his tireless commitment to science, his curiosity and his constant willingness to engage in discourse.
